Our Community Garden
The garden as it is now....
The garden space is currently very overgrown, it hasn't been used for many years and needs a lot of work.

What's the plan?
The perimeter fencing has fallen down and isn't secure, especially along side the ditch that runs adjacent with the garden. There are lots of overgrown hedges, brambles and weeds that all need clearing.

Why should we have a community garden?
Gardening fosters a sense of grounding, as it helps us to reconnect with our roots as human beings. People who get involved in gardening often experience a deeper sense of belonging and connection with nature. The health and wellbeing benefits are endless and we really do believe this community garden will make such a big difference!

Why a community garden?
Engagement in gardening activities has shown to promote social relationships, family connection, emotional and mental wellbeing, moderate stress, reduce depression and anxiety, and improve cognitive and educational outcomes in children and adolescents.

Education
The aspiration is that everyone that visit Roots takes something away, from a new skill, a new connection or a seedling to grow. We aim to positively impact all that visit and the community we are part of.

Wellbeing
One of the main benefits of gardening for mental health is its ability to relieve stress, add to this a sense of community and belonging and we think our community garden will be a pretty special place to be!

We have lots to do, as you can see! But we cant do it all on our own. As such we are fundraising for the community garden, if you can help, however small, then please follow the link at the bottom of the page!
